Trauma Care International Foundation (TCIF) is one of the humanitarian agencies that fall under the auspices of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI).
Trauma Care International Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving trauma care and emergency response services. Their mission is to raise awareness of health education through advocacy and community-focused initiatives.
The foundation aims to boost the health and life expectancy of individuals, communities, and nations by improving trauma care standards, supporting national trauma care policies, and raising awareness about effective emergency response strategies.
Trauma Care International Foundation’s primary goal is to reduce the loss of potential life years due to injuries and disabilities. To realize this vision, the foundation offers free medical services to underprivileged individuals and communities.
The foundation seeks to minimize delays in patient evacuation, transport, and care during traumatic events. Their efforts also focus on lowering morbidity and disability rates caused by accidents or injuries.
Education is a key component of the foundation’s work. Positive outcomes in trauma situations are more likely when individuals trained in trauma response and first aid are present. Therefore, the foundation sponsors educational programs to equip people with the skills needed to administer proper first aid during medical emergencies.
What Does TCIF Do?
Trauma is a critical global health issue, ranking as the 9th leading cause of death worldwide, with more than 3,200 fatalities occurring each day.
Studies indicate that accident and emergency outcomes improve significantly when a skilled first responder is present at the scene.
Proper pre-hospital care by trained bystanders and the quick arrival of emergency medical personnel can greatly enhance the recovery chances of those with traumatic injuries.
Trauma Care International Foundation focuses on expanding access to trauma care and emergency response services in 3 ways:
- Health Education and Promotion initiatives that enhance the health status and life expectancy of people in our host communities.
- Advocacy geared towards improvements in pre-hospital and facility-based trauma care and institution of national policies on trauma management.
- Community-based programs which help to increase local awareness of appropriate emergency response
The foundation has conducted over a thousand first aid, safety, and emergency response training seminars for school children, law enforcement officers, teachers, caregivers, and road transport workers. Trauma Care International Foundation enhances the preparedness of these individuals through specialized lectures and hands-on demonstrations to improve emergency response quality.
Through its advocacy and awareness campaigns, Trauma Care International Foundation aims to influence the creation of comprehensive national trauma response policies. The foundation supports government programs and planning for regional trauma network systems in Nigeria and advocates for establishing a trauma audit network at national, state, and local levels.
The foundation works to achieve its mission through various initiatives, including a child safety awareness campaign, basic emergency response training, a campaign for better trauma and emergency response training, and a voluntary blood drive.
Trauma Care International Foundation Campaigns
Last month was a highly successful season of impact through the LoveWorld Medicaid Campaign.
In line with its mission to improve health care access for all, Loveworld Medicaid sponsored health insurance packages for 100 beneficiaries selected from low-income families in 2 communities in Lagos Mainland, Nigeria. Thus, these individuals and families had access to quality healthcare, cost savings, and peace of mind.
The Trauma Care International Foundation launched its 100-Day Global Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign to help children via numerous blood drives organized at multiple locations globally! This vital initiative ensures that children who require it receive safe blood for transfusion.
Thanks to our sponsors, pastors, and partners, we were able to restore the vision of more than 1,000 beneficiaries at the June edition of V.I.S.I.O.N. 10,000, many of whom received medical treatment, ophthalmic care, and access to free corrective surgeries.
