Through the promotion and sponsorship of charitable initiatives, Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI) was established to help individuals, communities, and nations lead purposeful and productive lives.
Believing in the future of indigent children and taking action to meet their needs, is the core of our work at the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI) and the InnerCity Mission (ICM).
Our goal is to show the world that ending poverty is possible and we won’t stop until every child, man, and woman can enjoy a life free from poverty.
Food Drives and Campaigns
This month we are organizing food drives through various initiatives and campaigns, like the ‘1 billion meals campaign’, where we will spread God’s abundance everywhere amongst the needy.
The main cause of hunger is poverty. Through the help of our partners, sponsors, and volunteers we hope to reach those who the world has forgotten.
The World Bank Organization describes poverty as:
“Poverty is hunger. Poverty is lack of shelter. Poverty is being sick and not being able to see a doctor. Poverty is not having access to school and not knowing how to read. Poverty is not having a job, is fear for the future, living one day at a time.
Poverty has many faces, changing from place to place and across time, and has been described in many ways. Most often, poverty is a situation people want to escape. So poverty is a call to action — for the poor and the wealthy alike — a call to change the world so that many more may have enough to eat, adequate shelter, access to education and health, protection from violence, and a voice in what happens in their communities.”
The ripple effect of hunger is evident as it trickles down the generations. Studies show a strong correlation between poverty and education.
The importance of Education as a core value of COFI
At COFI we believe that education is a basic human right, a public good, and a public responsibility. Working with partners, sponsors, and volunteers, many initiatives and campaigns through the InnerCity Mission (ICM), under the COFI umbrella, are directed at improving education and educational facilities and making education accessible to all.
Today, education is at the heart of the Sustainable Development Goals, it is essential for the success of all 17 of its Sustainable goals. Education is one of the most powerful tools to fight poverty and inequality.
Even though the International Day of Education was commemorated last week, we join the world to highlight the importance of education and reaffirm our commitment to investing in building the future of 5 million indigent children through the ‘Sponsor A Child’s Education’ (SP.A.C.E) Campaign in 2023.
Our founder, Chris Oyakhilome said: “Help children don’t ignore children…you were just that small one day, but you were fortunate to have someone help you. Many of these children are fortunate to have us…they have dreams, and we can help make those dreams come true!”
