In a world of plenty how come there are still hungry people? The poor children we are still seeing are most likely to be the poor adults of the future. We must be able to do something about this. Hunger is one of our most solvable challenges, as the world produces more than enough food to feed everyone.
When poverty takes over and you are not able to give your child basic staple foods it must be the worst feeling in the world. The #endchildpovertynow campaign wants to provide simple food solutions to feed children and take the pangs of hunger away.
The W.A.T.C.H campaign will gather momentum in the month of October. Starting on World Food Day the InnerCity Mission For Children will be increasing its campaign to have the means to reduce child hunger. Providing 30 million meals in some 40 countries around the world if we work together we can do even more.
The NGO has the view that “Every Child Is Your Child”. With that in mind, no child should go to bed hungry. Hunger takes the lives of millions of children each year and this needs to stop. One billion children live with hunger and in poverty. The goal is to provide 50 million meals to needy children around the globe.
There is a need to provide sustainable solutions for tackling the issue of hunger. As part of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International (COFI), the Inner City Mission For Children has been working to alleviate hunger and has many different ways you can work in partnership.
Being a partner with the Inner City Mission means you are working towards the goals of feeding indigent children. By contributing to the Child Health And Nutrition Programme you will be boosting the Food Bank. Regular Food Drives ensure that there is a sustainable supply of food to meet the needs of poor families.
Alternatively, you can become a Food Partner and contribute to the needs of the forgotten children. With a full stomach, these children can concentrate on their studies and improve their lives. If we can end the cycle of poverty we can start building lives.
To achieve the desired target of zero hunger take the W.A.T.C.H Challenge and let’s end hunger today. Let us tackle one of the effects of poverty by giving at least $1 a day. You can share this message and include your family and friends and let them have the gift of giving.
